  • Gingerbread House 2015

I posted in the introduction forum that I planned on turning my house into a gingerbread house, a project I've wanted to do for a long time. Here's an update of my progress so far.

I cut out all of the gingerbread pieces from insulation board, painted them with a few coats of brown latex paint, and added on 'icing' using a few cans of Great Stuff foam.

Here are some of the pieces laid out. Had to dismantle the living room and dining room to find space to do this, and there are a lot of pieces missing here.

To attach adjacent pieces of insulation board together, I came up with a pretty simple solution of dowels and eye bolts. The eye bolts were screwed into some pieces of scrap wood and attached to the foam with heavy duty loctite adhesive.

To hold the pieces upright against the house, I will have some peppermint stick 2x4s staked into the ground. There will also be a separate roof section that I will be attaching to my lower gutter using light clips, zip ties, and some creativity. Hope to have another update for you guys in a few days!

        AMAZING. Keep the photos coming.

BTW .. on the FOOD channel .. on Saturday night they are having "All Star Gingerbread Build".
It sounds interesting. I will definitely tape it.

I think your project definitely qualifies.
