  • Started decorating

My daughter and grandson came over today and we started putting out the outside decorations in the front field. Got about a third of them out today. I will get these staked in the ground before bringing any more out. It was a little chilly today but then again it is November. Looks like we are done with the 70 and 80 degree temperatures we had a couple of weeks ago.

I put my trees up on Saturday. No lights or decorations yet, but at least the trees are up. That was my goal this weekend, and I feel good about it.

My inside was all done by Halloween and the week after all outside lights up, now we start on lawn items this week, should be ready for our first lighting Dec. 1st.

Two of my neighbors came over and helped me yesterday and today. We have made a lot of progress. Still a lot left to do.

That's so cool how everything is lined up along the road!! You need to make a video as you drive along so we can see!
Glitter is like the herpes of all holidays - once you have it, you can't get rid of it!!!

Windy last night and today and blew down some of the decorations. That is my biggest problem living on top a of hill is all the wind we get. Although in the summer time it is nice.

Finally got almost everything done and lit up the display this evening. Two of my neighbors have been over quite a few days assisting me. Yesterday and today my daughter came over and helped with the little things that were skipped over but still need doing. She is a big help with the little details. Still have a few more things to put out. I have a drive thru display. I will get some pictures later this week and post them. Here are a couple of teasers.

I'm happy to report that I got around my association's outdoor decorating policy this year. I put the tree up inside, lit it up, and displayed it by the sliding door window so that people can still see it when walking or driving by. I also put a Christmas themed welcome mat outside, which is technically not against the rules. Lastly, we picked up a copy of Santa vs Jesus, which the family and I will probably play on Christmas Eve. Hopefully, even more decorations to come.

Andy, your display is really nice! Thatís also nice of your neighbors, daughter and grandson to help. Does your daughter decorate her yard for Christmas like that too?

Glad you found a way around the rules. Such grinches.

I thought our HOA would be the same about Christmas decorations. They are sooooo picky with everything! Iíím glad weííve been able to decorate with freedom.

I hope you find more creative ways to decorate around their rules.

She goes all out decorating the inside of her house, but very little on the outside. They live a ways off the road so she has no interest in decorating the yard. She does decorate the porch.
