Looking back at pictures of my very first appartment and my very first tree (lol...a charlie brown tree that my dad cut down from the back of their property and brought to me...with mixed hand -me -down decorations - it was put into a big pail filled with rocks to somewhat hold it in place) to my present trees - wow what a difference, its funny. If I ever figure out how to post pictures I will post a 1st xmas tree pic vs a last yr. pic! Everyones taste also changes over time (so I think ) so all the decorating is totally different! lol its just like looking back at old pictures of yourself (the hair and the clothes ). Just wondering if anyone else has 1st tree vs. present tree pics!

YA know its funny......I remember when my Mom could no longer put up a tree......I just took over and still today so many years later my tree is identical to the trees we had when I was a kid. There are even a bunch of ornaments and such on it that were on our tree when I was growing up. The snowball lights were on all of our families trees & if your look further back......my Grandmother started the tradition of the snowball lights, following were her 2 daughters that used snowball lights and now there is me.

I do agree that this will be an interesting thread to follow!

I don't have a pic of my first tree - it was in my first apartment when I was 18... It was a very cheap, small artificial one since the budget was small.

Here's a pic of the tree last year. It's nothing themed or overdone. Most of the ornaments have special meaning: they've either been picked up on our vacations, or another set was a gift from my boss back in the 80's when he went on vacation to Germany. I have another that is a decorated egg from when I was in Prague in '92. There's the wooden Pinocchio from Italy, the trip when my husband proposed to me! (poor guy, little did he know...)

I love the various ornaments that the kids made. It's so much fun putting the ornaments on the tree together, recalling all of the memories.

Well, we have had a few other trees, but this was the only I could find -- last years. With my two cuties on xmas morning! It looks kind of bare -- will definitly add lots more stuff this year!

Oh, and yes it was leaning, and yes the angel is made of coffee filters! We have a new topper now, but she will still go on the tree! Now I'm gonna go make some popcorn garlands to give the next one life....:)

I love looking at every ones trees. Mummydeerest, you have two precious little ones ther, they llok so cute by the tree, and /Ms Parker, glowing eyes or not, love the dog!! I don't think I have pics that will go on the computer, . But as far as the begining of this thread goes, yes my trees have changed. Actually my first tree went into a mobkle home and we got a huge far one that was way to big, and then had few lights and ornaments, cuz we couln't afford many, but we thought it was wonderful. I have also changed styles over the years, (been doing it for a while, this year will be my 31st ree, so Yeah, I chabnged and so did the treee.) When the kids were little, it ws geared to stuff they made and or liked. Now I have a second "memory tree in the family room.

My 1st marriage we were just making ends meet. Couldn't afford a tree our 1st christmas together, so I stapled green garland to the wall. I still remember that tree. It was the best we could do, but it was ours to enjoy.:D

thanks you childofthenight, I love to see the trees. Your "now"
tree is pretty with the blue. But the "cat attack" tree has it's own charm!

Always consider my first tree the one right after my mom and dads divorce. We had NO money. A friend of mine knew of an old abandoned tree farm so we drove off with an ax and 'accuired' one. I think this thing was 6 ft tall with a total of 10 branches. LOL All we could afford was a few strands of lights so we made popcorn balls and cookies and strung them on for decorations. That same friend had also gotten us a puppy. We got up one morning to find the pup as fat as he was long. It had gotten really damp that night and the strings were slicing through the cookies and balls. That poor pup was miserable. But every time another one would hit the floor he'd try to waddle over and find it.

Now I have several trees. A few hundred antique and new figural and shaped ornaments. A late 1800's Nativity booked at $150+ a figure and scores of stuff I've made myself. 'and to be honest, I bought the Nativity set at an auction. Paid a grand total of $17.50 for it. Ya'll know I'm cheep. LOL
