Does anyone have a colour scheme they use at christmas? I was really hooked on the gold and red theme for years. Last year I started the blue and silver in a couple rooms and really liked it...think I might do more blue and silver this year. I also stick with all clear lights also.

I mix the norm -- red, white, green, gold, and silver -- together. I always to white lights on the the tree, but outside will be more colorful if the husband has anything to say about it!

Depends what youare going for. Fun-kid-fantasy, or classy-upscale-minuette.
For the kids one, I think lots of colors really add to their fun. For the classy, mettalic, white, with clear lighting works IMO

Outside lighting has changed over time for me. All white for a few years then went with red and white for a while. Now I like red, white and green - strings of C-9 along roof, large lighted balls in fig tree, minilights in front hedge, rope lights on the bicycle. I think mixing the styles of the lights seems to work because the color scheme is consistent. Decorations outside are basically in the same red-white-green colors.
Inside is a mix of just about everything, with some attempt to group things that kinda go together.

I don't have a color theme, I just have a type of ornament I prefer, what I have seen on sites refered to as fancy glass. Love sparly to catch the lights. I prefer white, but hubby likes colored and whined about it every year til I changed to colored. Now my beads, and garland are silver to play with the colored lights better.

I pretty much have always stuck w/ traditional colors just because I had so many hand me downs. Last year I went to all burgundy in my foyer & left the material I draped for Halloween up for Xmas. I thought it really enhanced the room & made it look rich in color. The material is some I bought to make a belly dancing outfit that never got made. Its black shiny w/ a silver metallic in it. The light really bounces off of it. This year I bought all gold lights to put in the swags that go around my mirror & entrance to my living room. Last year I did white.
This year I will also have a tree in my bedroom and i just been buying stuff for that. It will be the colors of my bedspread.....gold & copper. Going with gold lights in there too.
As I said before we are going for a gingerbread look outside of the house and are working toward that every year. We started last year w/just a few things. BUT we are also going for that look in the dining room & kitchen here in the house. So I made a list of things I need to start looking for & buying.
With me being a candymaker...if we do these open houses every Xmas I surely would like the kids to think of us as the candymakers and what better way to do that than to decorate the place like a gingerbread house. Hubby thinks I crazy>>>>>colors I'm tossing around for the inside>>>Pink & Purple!!!hehehhehe

I'm thinking of going with silver and gold this year like the song. I can never make up my mind on how I want my tree to look like. Its usually a hod podge of ornaments but this year I plan on getting my act together.
