Just curious as to who gets a real tree every year and who has an artifical tree - we always get a real tree, but with a real tree you cant get it until a couple weeks before Christmas - so this year I am getting an artifical so I can put it up early - I have a spot in the kitchen beside the fireplace and then we will get a real tree for the livingroom closer to christmas. I also have 3 ft trees that I make that I put up in different rooms.

Last year was the first year we had an artificial tree. Mr. W had always had real and insisted on it... however, we finally made the decision to switch.
Some of our favorite family stories are the "picking-out-the-tree-and-sawing-two-feet-off-of-the-top" stories. :)

I like real better, but we go with the artificial for ease of set-up and take-down. I do two trees. One for Christmas...and one for Hallow's Eve. Both in Dec.

We go to a tree farm every year and get a real one, the day after Thanksgiving, if you make sure it doesn't dry out, it will last. I mean there is some clean up, but not bad enough that I will use a artifical one, I love my trees. I do use a artifical one for my second, and sometimes third tree, but I have been know to have two real ones.

Will do a real tree this year, as always...but if there is money in the budget, would love to get another or an artifical, too!

My husbands middle name is "Clark Griswald" and more than anything he loves to round up the kids and drag them through the freezing weather and chop down the largest tree we can find, then when we get home we find out it was too big and we have to chop it up some more....

My wife and I have only been together since Jan 2003 .. for the first 3 years together at christmas we had a real tree, but last year we opted for a fake one. We compared pics of the dressed fake tree against the dressed real tree and the fake one looked better !

My dad always drug us out to get a real one when we were kids. Of coarse after we moved out he got a fake one (probably becuase he didn't have us there to clean up the mess they make). My wife and I have always had a fake, but now with little ones, we want to start the tradition of going out and getting the real deal.

For us, the real deal always sounded great, but turned out to be a pain in the tuckas out in the cold with people gettingon edge with each other.

I have always done the fake tree at home. It is just too easy to setup and tear down afterwards.
In college, us frat boys went out Christmas tree hunting for the place. A 15 footer would fit nicely upstairs. Those big trees sure did like to lap up the water though. Half the ornaments were "empties" from the trip getting it :D

I have always had a fake tree. I am not sure what my cats would do with a real tree... I can hardly keep them off of the fake one. I have to pull my middle cat off the top of the tree every year. One year she brought it completely down. She doesn't even have any claws! lol

A real tree is a must!! There is nothing better than going to pick out your tree. Going to pick up your tree in a box at Wal-Mart just doesn't have the same effect. And although it creates mess bringing it in the house and than removing it....its all in the fun of Christmas

you mean I don't have to bring an axe to walmart to chop down the artificial tree???

Been collecting ornaments for years now. A good amount of antique ones as well as shapes and glass figures bought new. I use artificial trees. No sap. My main tree is an artificial one I pulled apart. Drilled and stained a wooden pole so I could move the branches further apart. Now I have an imperfect artificial with more than enough open spaces for all the ornaments. Looks better than any fake tree I've seen.
I also have a 60's aluminum. Don't get any more atificial than that! LOL It's the real deal so I can't put lights in it. I do have the color wheel just never used it with the tree.
However I'd admit, nothing beets the smell of a real tree.

Always has been and always will be real. There's enough fake, plastic things in our life. We look forward to enjoying a real, albeit dead, piece of nature in my living room... right next to flat screen.

I LOVE real trees but haven't had one in 7 years now cry: This area in AZ is WAY too dry and they want a bunch of money for a dead tree. Not sure all the needles wouldn't blow off as you drive home.
So for now...it's my fake tree.

I would love to get a fake tree. But my husband refuses to buy one.
So every year he buys a $150 tree that dies in two weeks and almost starts our house on fire. Plus I always feel bad about chopping down a tree.
Although, I have to admit that I love the smell of the real trees.

We have always had a real tree. I can see the virtues in both real and artificial, and a person has to get what works best for their needs. But we prefer real, so as long as I can get one, it is what we will have. I love the smell and the feel, but hate the mess at the end. And I must admit, I am bad about remembering to water the poor thing.

Our main tree is a 9 foot real tree that for the last 3 years we order online. It comes from North Carolina and easily beats anything that we would find at the lots. We also have several artificial trees - a 7' in the foyer, a 7' slim in the kitchen, a 7' slim in the living room next to the fireplace across from the 9 footer, and then 3 or 4 smaller ones in various rooms. The kitchen tree is a Disney theme (since our kitchen is entirely Disney/Mickey Mouse)

We always get a real tree......ah the smell everytime you walk downstairs. We go to a tree farm and chop one down, get hot chocolate and enjoy seeing all the doggies that pass our way. As many times as we looked for hours for the perfect one I realized a few years ago no matter which one we get they all look beautiful with the lights and ornaments on them.

We are a real tree family. Always have and always will. There are so many great memories of hot cocoa, sledding, and selecting the tree out in nature. It is a christmas tradition that has left us with numerous memories. Plus I love the great smell of a real tree.

I have never had a real tree, so I would have to say artificial trees. I enjoy putting them together and fluffing them out. I don't have a really special tree, but I do the best with what I have.

real tree, I love them, we got to a tree farm to get one every year, I don't even mind the mess, if it come s with a real tree,. I get either a fir of some type or a spruce, ususally end up with a spruce, cuz they are the biggest and fattest ones, the needles drop easier, but it is worth it to me
And don't feel bad about a tree getting cut down, they plant 3 new ones to take it's place!

I had real trees all my life. When I was young my Dad taught me the fine art of making a real tree look even better, you know, 3ft. taller than you need for the extra branches and an electric drill.LOL. Now an artificial tree is just easier for me, and less fire danger. Seems I forget to water it. Huh! I don't remember that.:)

We always get a real tree. I want to add more trees throughout the house which will be fake. But the main tree is always real.

Forever real! The annual family exodus to go select the perfect tree, tying it to the roof, the smell of pine, the cool air falling on me while I'm under the tree adjusting the screws, the pine needles to always clean up, the pitch on my hands, wrestling with impossible knots in the light strings, and the thick smoke it makes when we cut it up for a backyard bonfire in January.

Always a real tree here, either balsam or a frasier fir. My hubby tends to get a bit carried away on the "size" a bit, last year my poor angel couldn't even move her wings without getting hung up on the ceiling! Ah shucks, what can I say. I love Christmas either way!

Aaaaaaaahhhhh! I just got confirmation that my tree shipped YESTERDAY!! I was planning for it to arrive around Dec. 4. I must of mis-read "by" for "week of". Oh well . . . I guess you can't really complain having to decorate early. idea:
