I was at a local dollar store, one that is family owned and has different things in it, and low and behold I see boxes of garland sitting there, with Kmart tags, for 19.99, I asked the lady there, these are also a dollar, and she said, yeah, can you believe it. So I got 40 feet of garland, (per box)nice quality, I bought two, probably should of bought more, they also had Christmas cards from kmart, and a tree stand from walmart with a 7.99 price tag, Plus some random Avon, I spent 7.50 and got about 70 dollars worth of things, considering the origional price tags, Whoo Hoo, love a good deal!! :happyfatsanta::happyfatsanta:

Totally cool score Bethene!!! Great price on that garland! What do you plan on doing with the garland?

Not really sure, Putrid, I haven't really anywhere to hang it in my house, no normal place any way, no mantle or stair way. I might fix it up , with add ins like you did, with pine cones and such. I will have to keep a eye out at other dollar stores for things to put in it, like the apples and berries and such. I also will check out my own stash of things, my pack rat-yness comes in handy some times!

No mantles or stair way is no problem. Hang around your curtains or interior doors and passways between rooms. If you don't mind going into real awkward positions and still hitting your hands you could put nails up along the top of your walls and hang it like I do.( Kind of instructions and a warning all in one sentence. LOL)
For a cool effect first put a string of white lights up, then put the garland over them. The lights will shine in streaks from behind the garland. Looks cool.

you can start at your ceiling and zig-zag down creating your own wall tree. :)

Yup I hang mine all over the place. I do run it around the whole frontroom, I drape it & it has colored lights its so pretty when the tree is on & the garland & a big fire going in the fireplace. I also have this beautiful metallic material.....I bought 20 yards of it quite some time ago to make a belly dancing costume but once I hung it & draped on the foyer door that was its new place.

Then I hang garland over it with lights & it causes the material to shimmer. Now I put this material up for halloween with a garland of purple spider lights & then I leave it up for xmas & change out the garland, gives the room a whole new look. I also wire pine cones into it.

Hey Muffy, I love the way your garland looks,
Putrid, cool idea with the lights, I do have some extra white lights , I also will probably add apples, and things, to make it similar to yours, and hang it in my kitchen.

LOL Mistress of Mistletoe. I've let Mistress Muffy know I'm 'borrowing' some of her ideas as well.

Looking forward to seeing pics Bethene!
