I have a weathered string of GE Merry Motion C9 lights I'll need to replace this year. Unfortunately, they are not sold anywhere anymore - probably something about them and being made in China resulted in a ban after two years.

Anyway, one thing I really like about these is the bright candy colored bulbs. Actually, they are sleeves - slip on covers that LOOK like c9 bulbs. That aspect I don't like much as they are breaking everytime I handle them b=now. BUT< I DO like the vibrant colors.

Anyone have a source on C9 exterior lighting for me?

Not able to find them either after a quick search on Ebay or the web.

As of last week, Lowe's has them in stock.

I have some sets as well, and am afraid to use them on the house (their intended spot), as the sleeves are (as you mentioned) so bloody fragile. Quite frustrating, especially since replacement sleeves aren't readily available.

I see the Lowes ones, seems C9s are turning up there and at Target this year. But one thing about these lights was the patterns of blinking you could select... none of the new c9s are like that... ah well.

well, I found a set just like mine on ebay and they had never been out of the box, so I got em. Plan is to use what's still good on the old string as spare parts since neither the c9-style sleeves nor the weird bulbs inside them seem to be available anywhere.

What a double edged sword, these lights are so friggin' cool looking, and I love the patterns, but they are soooo delicate and crappy in some respects. I'd just get the new c9 light that are turning up but none have this "Merry Motion" feature I like so much.

So, Christmas is saved ... for another year....

Thanks. It gives me some knowledge about what this is if the subject comes up next time.
