I was curious what kind of things you all have done to decorate your houses (on the outside) for Christmass in previous years? I don't want to just do lighting, so I need some ideas!

Well...my favorite non-traditional Christmas prop was a sleigh crash I made for my roof...

I crafted the back end of Santa's sleigh, and attached it to my roof - to appear as if ol' St. Nic had plowed head-on into my house...

I had some boards appearing to be bent outward, and had some wrapped gifts scattered about the roof...

I considered an arm or leg clad in red to be poking out, but left out that detail...

I received a lot of laughs for it, and some non-approving head shakes as well...

I may need to remake that prop and do it again someday...or something similar.

Well I don't have any pics of the outside, but here's a link to some inside shots. BTW, that uglyass wallpaper is long gone.

LOL spook, being halfassed makes me lopsided and sitting can get really uncomfortable.

I just love to decorate so I guess that makes me a decor whore :D

The one decoration I've been doing for years is a Christmas bicycle. I picked up an old red bike at a yard sale, tied some wreaths with bows to the wheels and strung a few lights on it. Now I have to set it out every year, it's a neighborhood tradition. I've repainted it, added rope lighting, updated the bows.

It's actually all embroidered. I made this in 1982 for hubby and I when we celebrated our first Christmas together.

Thanks Mummy.

NJWilk-that bike looks very cool. BTW, how much is that doggie in the window? Your lab puppy is adorable. I also have one of those guys.

Thanks, CandyCane. My Maggie is a sweetie, but she's a small English setter. And standing behind her out of sight are our English springer spaniel Hank and our setter imposter Lindsey. They love the holidays, all the fuss and running around me in the yard while I assemble decorations, sitting on fabric to make it all wrinkly and furry, slobbering ornaments. How could i possibly decorate without htem?

Candy Cane - great pics, everything looks great! Its alot of putting it all up (but well worth it) and alot of work taking it down isn't it.
