Do you favor eggnog, cider, hot chocolate, or something else?

I really dislike eggnog, but love cider and hot chocolate during the season.

I used to say hot chocolate. But I went to an apple orchard in California a couple of years ago and they gave us a sample of their cider. I had NO IDEA that cider could taste so well.

So we bought some. We did not add "Something Special" to the cider, but it was yummy.

We go up to Apple Hill (CA) every year for the hot apple cider, ummm good. I can take Eggnog in small amounts, but prefer Hot Chocolate.
Specifically a Snuggler, hot chocolate with a shot of peppermint schnapps.

For the mild drinks we make a mix of cranberry juice and sparkling cider in a glass rimmed with suger sprinkles. Yummmy. For the adults, it changes, but I love hot spiced cider. Might add some captian to it, if in the mood. ;)

I'll take hot chocolate or hot cider anytime. I'm not much for eggnog. I always describe eggnog as dilluted pancake batter. Bleccchh!!

Love virgin eggnog. For some reason when brandy or whisky is added it becomes icky tasting for me.

I like mulled wine on special evenings.

I also like to treat myself to Baileys on ice. And in the evening, I like to settle in front of the fire with a lovely V.S.O.P.

Otherwise, I stick to my red wine. :)

er....I know I'm sounding stupid here, but what's VSOP and mulled wine?

er....I know I'm sounding stupid here, but what's VSOP and mulled wine?

V.S.O.P. is a cognac age specification: Very Superior Old Pale

There is also XO = extra old

Mulled wine is red wine that heated gently (not bubbling) in spices and fruit.

Only one of if not the most perfect cocktails known to humanity.

I got heavier on the brandy and lemon juice - I roll the edge of the maritini glass in lemon juice and then roll in sugar - twist of lemon. Perfection. :)

Mulled wine for me. I remember the first year I had it. A couple of friends stopped by unannounced and, of course, I was working on ornaments and a few other things and was very stressed at that moment. They brought the red wine, oranges, and spices and while I was cleaning up the table so we would have a place to sit, they were in the kitchen simmering the wine and goodies. Well, they handed me a glass of that and all stress and cares were gone. It turned out to be a great night of friends hanging out.

I enjoy hot chocolate when I want something hot and need a chocolate fix.

I am not a real big fan of eggnog (http://christmas.whipnet.net/recipes/index.html) myself, unless it includes some christmas spirit; absolutely! :)

I third that! :D

I do enjoy hot cider, eggnog, or hot chocolate. I usually get hot chocolate anywhere I go in the holiday months. We have Universal Studio annual passes and when we go to Grinchmas it is a must that we stop at this place in the park called Mythos and have a mug of the best freakin' hot chocolate ever!

I love the idea of the Bailey's mint in the hot chocolate. I am going to try that this year! Thanks!

I get powdered white hot chocolate from a local coffee shop called Timothy's and mix it with hot milk...it's very good. but I think I'll give Alucard888888's recipe a try.

Carnation has started making a white hot chocolate mix too

Well there are a few things I like. Virgin eggnog, even the cheap stuff works for me but, only a small cup. A friend makes homemade Tom and Jerry's for every xmas party. They are harsh the first cup but, after that one hits you really don't care anymore. Keep them comming. lol I like the V.S.O.P. or a bass armaniac (sp.) A nice port works good too. If I want to get decidant I will have my other half make me a Brandy Alexander.

Though if I'm just sitting around on a Fri. night it will be a black OR blue martini. I also really like the black OR white russians with sky, grey goose or, absolute vodka.
