Do you use a star, an angel, or something else on top of your tree?

We have an angel that my Mom gave us years ago. What about you?

We have an angel -- grew up with one, and would like to keep it, but husband grew up with a star. He lost. :)

From the time I was little we had a spire type topper that my dad had brought back from Germany. It was silver and blue and had what I thought for years were 2 little eskimos set in it. It wasn't until I inherited it that I discovered it was 2 kids on a sled. We used that one until about 5 years ago when the spire got broken off. I was heartbroken. Since then we have used a golden scrolly star.

We always used a star when I was growing up. Quite a few years ago my Aunt bought this wonderful Angel that has hands & wings that move, when she was in the Diner we owned sitting atop the tree everyone just loved her. WHen I moved in the new house here 3 years ago I could not find her so I used a star. I was so afraid she got lost in the move.

Two years ago I was so happy when I finally found her in some box....guess what? She got lost in all the stuff before I got her on top of the tree that year. Last year she was lost again! Would anyone like to take Xmas bets as to what will happen this year??? lol

On the grand tree down stairs we use an angle. On the tree up stairs in the pavillion it's all themed out in a western style so we don't really have a topper for that.

We've been using a star that goes with the red and gold scheme we've had for the past several years, but I'm not sure I can glue it back together for another Christmas. I'm voting to use the Springer Spaniel angel we got in memory of our first dog, but I'm not in charge of the tree. All other Christmas decorating is my realm, just not the tree.

I grew up with 3 fathers- all ministers, so I see more of the religion into my personal holiday. For me the angel on top is great!

Of course I also put up a halloween tree that's gore-y. :)

We have a beautiful Angel. I have lots of Christmas pretties. I ran the Trim-A-Tree department for Carson Pirie Scott for 3 years back in the Chicago area.

Well, let's see. For the traditional tree it's a lighted angel, On our travel tree it's usualy a sailboat, on the 49ers tree it's Joe Montana, and on the Halloween tree it's a Jack-o-lantern. Some years we only put up 1 or 2, this year we won't decorate at all since we won't be home to enjoy it.

I tried to talk my mom into a witch hat tree topper, but she said no way. I guess we will be like everyone else and top the tree with an angel.

On the big tree I use a star, it is a beautiful blue and silver filagree one my mother in law gave me years ago, so while I do love it, I also use it for sentimental reasons. I use either one on my second tree, depending on how the mood strikes me.

we had that problem once when I was little, My father hung the star from the cieling with a rope to the tree and to conceal the rope he wrapped garland around it. ( it looked liked a suicidal tree):D

I went back & found this thread we had on the Xmas toppers.......

The Answer is YES!!!! I found the Lost Angel today in the garage. Honestly I had given up on her this year & left the old topper on. With my big tree, once its gets pushed to the window & the village gets started underneath, you can't get to the tree at all. BUT today we found her & took the top of the tree off, unhooked the old topper & wired up the Lost Angel! She is just beautiful with her wings in motion!

I have a 50's Noma light up Angel for the main tree and a home made paper mache one on the fake feather tree.
The coolest tree topper I've ever seen was a large antique glass owl. Mainly silver with painted highlights. WAY over my price range of cheap to free. LOL

My current preference is for a star,
http://www.azuregreen.com/images/products/RPS3.JPG

but I've recently discovered the Amy Brown Winter Fairy,
http://www.amybrownart.com/images_cust/102276/winter.jpg

either of which would "paganize" our tree while still keeping to traditional themes - kinda....

So now the question is: will the cat repellent I've been told about really work? A friend of mine is using it now and orders are on hold pending the results....

I've had both the star and angel at one time or another. I do prefer the angel as the topper. Its just the site of it looking down on my family with a smile. Also its the joke about the first Christmas tree angel. Santa was having a bad day at the north pole. The elves were drunk on eggnog. The reindeer had gotten out of the sable and were running wild. Santa's naughty or nice list was missing. Along comes this little angel with a Christmas tree. He ask Santa where to put the the tree and the rest is history. So that's how we got the first angel tree topper.:D. Think of this joke and tell me you don't get a smile on your face.

we have different toppers on the trees around the house, but I like the angels. when you have 17 trees you can have a large variety or toppers.

Putrid, the owl sounds awesome!

This has been ours for the past couple years. My hubby is a Razorback so it's a nod to him.
