Do you start before Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, sometime in December, or wait until Christmas Eve?

We usually start putting some stuff out that first weekend in December, and put up our tree the third week or so of December. It usually lasts until after New Years and my birthday which is also early January.

The day after Thanksgiving the tree and outside lights go up, the rest of the decorating follows the next few days.

Thanksgiving weekend...after the cleanup of "the feast"...we start pulling out the Christmas decorations, and put the tree up that day or the following day...

Outdoor lights and decor may take another week after that...or not...sometimes they go up quick too...

I have always decorated Thanksgiving weekend. Our Diner was closed for Thanksgiving & that is when I pulled everything out. Now with our candy business started & the fact that I have some small shows in Dec. & a friend coming to visit for a week (the 5th - 12th) I need to get done ASAP.

Usually in Dec we are starting Valentine candy for the accounts plus all the last minute candy orders people need for Xmas.

I was so behind for Halloween w/ our health issues & hubbies operation Oct.4 & then staying up at the hospital a week out of town with him. Ain't no way I'm goin thru that stress again. Seems like Halloween went up & came right down.

SO we are starting Wed...... as the Halloween comes down...xmas is going up. Besides I still am having trouble from that snowboarding accident in my shower, man when ya get older things just don't want to heal!!

Bring on the Boxes>>>>I'm ready!!

I don't like seeing Christmas stuff up BEFORE Thanksgiving.

We decorate early December - the tree always goes up the second weekend in December. Last year, our first year of outdoor lights, we put them up first weekend of Dec.

However, we'll let the weather guide us. If it's nice, we'll put lights up Frid/Sat/Sun after Thanksgiving, but I won't turn them on until Dec.

Indoor stuff is usually early December. The outdoor stuff depends on the weather. If it looks like the last good weather weekend is Thanksgiving, then I am swinging off the gutters then. I hate to hang lights in the snow and cold.

I usually start inside at the beginning of Dec. and outside about the same or a week later. Last year we didn't even put up a tree because we we're gonna be out of town. We'll be gone again this year but I'm really startin to feel the itch so I might just go ahead and do it anyway.

Why not? Christmas only comes once a year. :)

We normally start with the inside decor the day after Thanksgiving and from there it's non stop until we're done. This year we already have a couple of animated stuffed Christmas animals out just to start getting in the mood.:)

Normally we start the outside lights the day after Thanksgiving, spending the whole weekend perfecting it. But this year we are adding more and so we have decided that if the weather is good we are going to put up the icicle lights the weekend before so it is out of the way. But we won't turn them on untill the day after Thanksgiving, Unlike some neighbors down the street that have already had theirs on for a week. We are excited about decorating, but we are of the mind set that lights should not be on until after Thanksgiving, and off right after New Year's. They are up for just over a month that way.

The inside decorating has no set time, it's more of a little here and a little there until about the second week or so of December that we finally get it all out. This year may also be different though because we have a 1 yr old that is crawling and getting around, almost walking and we are trying to come up with where to put the tree? Should we blocade it off so she can't get to it? If so, how should we block it? ETC....

We solved the problem by treating the tree setup as we would an animal. Soft cushy ones at the bottom, the more breakable ones at the top. Looked kinda funny, but we were more for safety. We even considered tying a string to the top and into an eyescrew at the ceiling so it wouldn't fall over.

I love the eyehook idea, My biggest concern was her pulling it over. Going to have to do that one, Thanks!

I saw that one of my neighbors has already fully decorated for Christmas. And while I love Christmas, I can't just skip Fall time/Thanksgiving altogether. I always have and always will decorate the day after (or weekend if working) after Thanksgiving.

First weekend of December is usually it for us....... but I have to admit that our exterior lights have been installed for 2 weeks now (but we don't light them up).... This is due to very cold weather coming our way very soon..... ;)
