So a few years ago, I started playing with colored wire. Now I have (in red, green, silver and gold wire) the words "Joy to the World." And I have no idea what to do with it. The letters are probably between 10 inches (for the capital J) and 4 or 5 (for the little o) and are in a cursive form. I was thinking I might be able to attach them together as a sort of banner, but was wondering if any of you creative people might have a better idea?

Oh gods, that's hilarious! *trying unsuccessfully to smother giggles* Especially since it's EXACTLY the kind of thing I used to do.... I would buy stuff "on speculation", as it were, with some vague idea of using it for some project or other, and three years later it would still be in the original packaging. At least you made it further than I did....

I'm not sure... some kind of sign, maybe?

Don't you laugh at me, HollyKing!!! grrr..... :D
How exactly to do you rid yourself of this affliction? :)

That's easy in principle, but tough in practice: you remind yourself you have but "X" amount of money to spend on Christmas; therefore, you'd better be spending it on things you KNOW you can do, rather than something you might figure out some use for... someday....

You could wrap small lights around each letter and hang it in the window. At least, that is what I would do with it. I love me some lights! :D

I'm looking at an empty space on the wall in my den that is just crying out for a little joy to the world. Or the letters would look great on the mantel, nestled into the green branches I put there earlier tonight.

I think the wires might be too small to do any of this as listed. They were to small to hold the lights, and got lost in the greenery on my mantel. I think I may make it into a wall hanging, but I need a background for them....and a way to attach them to the background....hmmmm.....

I don't know how far you go twith these but i like the frame idea..what about adding the lights to that also.

In an offshoot of this idea, it would be neat to have a deep frame with Christmas lights around the inside of the frame where we could only see the glow.

Heres an idea that comes to mind. Bend your wire into letter shapes and at the beginning and the end of the word for ex. "Noel" Twist the "N" so it has a twirly tail and add a red or green bead, loop the wire end to prevent the bead from falling off. Do the same to the "L" You can add as many beads as you like. You can then turn that into a tree ornament by adding some ribbon and a bow to hang it with. Or get creative and use them for tie backs on your curtains.
