Here we go!!! Making some progress. I'll post pictures as I go. You can also follow along via Dano's Lights on Facebook.

Here is my 17' spiral and 2 10' mini-mega. If the dang leaves would ever stop falling....

Are those driven straight into the ground?

Actually no. I do mine differently than most who do set a sleave in the ground. What I do is set a green fence post in the ground, slide the PVC over that and attach 3 guy wires.

I should have thought that way. Your 17' doesn't sway?

No sway. Be sure the guys are tight - I use 3 - and held by a good stake.

Yes, Chris, pvc elect conduit. Helps to form a uniform circle and some place to wrap the lights. I could have simply staked them in, but too many tree roots there...

What is the top section made of, the part your lights are attached to? How are the lights attached on the upper part? Where are your guy wires? I don't see them. Those look amazing Dano. I would love to do some one year, maybe.

I agree! I've always thought I don't have the brain cells to pull these off... however these photographs are excellent!! To see it like this versus reading an instructable for those of us whose brains are wired differently, this is very helpful. Makes me dare to hope...

Excellent display Dano!

JW,
The header is a couple of plumbing parts (actually a 4" z 1.5" reducer) which slides up and down the pole via 2 pullies. There are hooks - peg board hooks, that are attached to the header. There's 16 of them. As for guys, they're there. I don't run them far friom the base - in fact they run right dow with the lights. I'll post more pics soon. That's all for the big tree.

You should make the 10' this year, very easy. Take a 2" Sch 40 PVC pipe for the pole. Get a 4"x2" reducer for the header, some hookx - what ever kind and done! One 100 count mini strand runs up and down to the base.

Thanks everyone..... I've been so over-busy trying to get things up as the weather here has just been fabulous. I was outside last night at 8 in only a T shirt which is unheard of for NJ.
More pics later tonight, I hope.
