If you never heard this song, well, I think you are going to like it. Judy Pancoast is a grammy nominated singer & songer writer for her work on children's music. When I first heard this song 2 or 3 years ago, I thought it was fabulous and I still thinks it is great. Last year duing the holiday season, Judy toured the US giving free performances at residential light displays. This video is of her performance at Richard Holdman's house. Many of you are probably familiar with Richard's display, he's outstanding at sequencing lights to music. Enough of my rambling, here's the link and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:

This is one of those song that you either like it or don't. Personally I like the "Karen Carpenter" feel to the song.

I understand that Karen Carpenter is Judy's favorite singer!! She does sound a lot like her! It's a great song!!

If I can be the lone dissenter, I can't say I really got into it. But unless it's TSO, I find that I like almost no contemporary Christmas music. Pretty much all the Christmas music that I like is either the old carols, the stuff from the 30s and 40s like Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, or TSO.

There's something about 95% of Christmas music made today that just lacks the soul of the older stuff and sounds too bubblegummy.

I'll have to side with SPX on this one. I much prefer the older music and the older renditions though I do like recordings from the 60s/70s as well. I agree again with SPX the older music just seems to be recorded with more depth and meaning. Nothing commercial about them. Maybe (partially) it's because that's the music I grew up with and brings back the spirit of Christmas to me.

The only stuff that I have in my collection that was recorded in the last couple of decades is an album of Celtic Christmas songs and Trans-Siberian Orchestra's stuff. Oh, and I also have a Christmas album from Charlotte Church.

I think that ultimately what it comes down to is the style. Most of the new stuff just sounds too poppy and empty and it just doesn't hit me in the gut with that "Christmas feeling." But if Harry Connick Jr. came out with a new Christmas album tomorrow then there's a good chance I'd like it.

I have two Connick, Jr. Christmas CDs. The first one was okay. I don't like the second one much.

As a name-dropping side note - I talked to him once on the phone. He's a very personable friendly guy.

Surprisingly I really enjoy Barry Manilow's first Christmas CD. Some well arranged tunes.

Oh I absolutely agree that in this case, the beauty is in the EAR of the beholder! LOL You hit the nail on the head. I believe Ms. Pancoast herself says she specializes in bubblegum music. She has made CDs for little kids... LOL

I myself love Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis, or the last few years, Jim Brickman.

I still like her song. It's fun! My three year old was dancing around.

I went to Amazon and listened to the samples off of one of Connick's Christmas albums. I thought it sounded like something I would like. If I remember correctly, Michael Buble also came out with a Christmas album that I thought was pretty decent.

Cool story about Connick. I've never owned any of his music, but I've always appreciated what I heard. And I think he's an underrated actor. He's great in everything I see him in.

I haven't heard Manilow's Christmas CD. Might have to check that out. Another one that you may like is Tony Bennet's "Snowfall." It's short and sweet.

I have the Buble CD and Bennett's "Snowfall". Buble has a nice voice, but his arrangements tend to be bouncy like he's doing a Sinatra Parody.

...and now back to the topic. :) I've seen many animated lights done to Pancoast 's song. Seems to fit real well.
