Just a helpful tip to anyone involved. I sent Edwin a ceramic Santa cookie Jar last secret Santa, and I thought I had wrapped it well. The post office in their wonderful way of delivering made sure it arrived on time...in pieces. My fault entirely. I should have wrapped it better, but everyone take a tip from my mistake and make sure your gift is OVER wrapped (protected.)

Just a tip as an ebay seller I have been educated that "parcel post if fragile will break during shipment but send it priority and it will most likely survive." Those were the words of the Post Master. I find that a tad interesting that he basically told me send it the cheapest route and we will break your item HAHAHA

I am laughing so hard right now I almost peed myself. I couldn't have said it better. Although I was thinking of ripping it up and using it on a prop at Halloween. A zombie who was killed in a stampede after their team got stomped in a game.


I think maybe Craig is referring to the fact that I mentioned to him how I felt the name draw came out rather challenging. I think many of us will be rising to a new level in trying to come up with the perfect gift this year. Makes it more interesting though. LOL

Gift Note - The last piece of the gift is due in any day now, but not today. IF it gets here tomorrow (Thursday) I will sent out the gift to my Secret Receiver tomorrow. If not, I am off work from the 5th to the 14th so the gift will ship out Monday, August 15th.

I am almost finished building my gift. It is simple, and not original by any means. But I am pleased with myself for actually having built something. And I think it turned out really cute. It was so much fun Now, the decision is....should I mail it before I go on my trip, or let my recipient wait until I return and ship it around the deadline? Hmmmmm......

I think Rybcon got his recipient a "do-it-yourself" christmas scene, complete with snow blower, some elves, a reindeer, and a snowman. The snowman is currently in liquid form so some assembly will be required.

Note to self--------> DO NOT use a reciprocating saw any more. (JW leaves to go find her wrist brace).

Lisa, I know, right? It is always the one thing we perceive to be the easiest that ends up being the fly in the ointment. I hope you find it as quickly as you hope.

If nothing gets in my way, I should be finished today. Provided I do not end up with a "balance" problem after assembling all pieces. I want to finish putting acrylic coats on before assembly.

If many of you find the ship date too restricting let me know and we can discuss having a small extension. I did not ask you in the beginning if the deadline was okay. I just kind of went with what we did last year. So I am very open to changes if needed. Or, if everyone is okay with that date, but someone has a problem come up that may prevent them from meeting the ship date, just send me a PM when the time comes and let me know what is going on. We can work it out.

Whoo Hoo....the first package is in the mail!!!!! And Rybcon takes the lead. Who will be receiving this mysterious box of assimilated christmas oriented items? Only Ryb and I know for sure.

Just a reminder to everyone.... PLEASE WAIT until everyone has received their package to reveal who your secret santa was. Then we can spill the beans and I am expecting EVERYONE to share pictures this year of what they got. A suggestion I may make is for the Secret Santas to take some pics of what you are sending, if possible. Some of us do not have digital cameras, or a way to post them online.

Still have a couple coats of acrylic to go on the back side (or should I say underside) of my gift. Lots of lightening storms slowing me down, as I am not crazy about working outside in the storms. Hey should we post additional ideas on this thread for our Secret Santa in case they are in panic mode as it looks like a couple are stumped? It may help the Santas in the long run if we all do that...except Craig since he already scored.

If I am being gifted by one of the panic Santas I am easy to shop for. Additional items I didnt mention prior would be Christmas CDs. I listen to and own Bing Crosby and Sinatra but I dont really have any other CDs that are Christmas. I also have a record player that plays 78s and only have Bing Christmas records so all other Christmas ones are welcome. Plus I am looking for Muppets Christmas Carol on DVD as well as Christmas Story as I just have them on VHS. On top of that I have a portion of my display thats NBC themed and I have foam light up pumpkins wearing Santa hats and you never can have too many of those pumpkins. Plus I love Christmas Vacation and Nightmare Before Christmas so much I even wear shirts all year that have to do with those movies so if you see one in those themes in a XL it could work too. Okay that should be enough info if one of you have me in a panic :)

I wonder if I put the item in a plastic bag, then set it in another plastic bag with great stuff, if it would make a cocoon around the items to protect as well?

I got an absolutely MIND-BLOWING package in the mail yesterday. I cannot wait to show pics of it and publicly make a BIG fuss over my awesome secret santa.

We really need to work on finding a name for a secret santa recipient. "Recipient" sounds so cold and impersonal. On the Halloween forums we call our Secret Reaper recips the "Victim". What can we call our SS recips? And ideas????

Just a reminder, besides myself there are 3 people who need to ship tomorrow. One other person already informed me their package would be a day or so late going out. Everyone be sure to let me know when you ship, and when you receive.

Humph!!! My package was suppose to arrive no later than Fri to my recipient. And that was really ridiculously long. Now they are telling me it won't be there until Sat. Maybe because the stupid thing went all the way over to Jacksonville FL (5 hours east of here) before they sent it out west. I don't understand the logic there. I got extension cords, A cool snowman tree, and antique Santa Toy that is battery operated, Halloween Clings, a motor for severed heads....or elves....or an elves severed head :) Chris went above and beyond Thanks Chris!!!!!!

Me too....I took some pics but still need one more. I can't wait to show everyone what Gris found for me. 2 new additions for my ceramic village and an adorable set of lighted wireframe cardinals. Gris really did his homework. He looked through my photo albums and used my wish list and went thrift shopping till he found what I needed. I couldn't have chosen better myself. Thanks again Gris!!!

Gris and Lisa, I am really loving the gifts you received. I would be hard put to pick out any one thing I like best, but I am kind of leaning toward those Red Wing snowmen. :)

These are wireframe cardinals. The pictures don't do them justice. In the bottom pic they look sort of orange, but they are actually a bright red. Very pretty.

I wish I could have thought of a way to make it swing, but not enough time, and not enough smarts. Maybe edwin can figure it out. If not, it gets kinda windy in Las Vegas. LOL.

Your outlines are so neat and even JW. What did you use? And what kind of paint?

Thanks, It was all freehand sickie. I looked at a picture online and drew my version on a piece of plywood. It is the same design but I made mine a little taller. Cut it out and sanded it. Then I painted it using acrylic craft paint. After painting I put about 3 coats of polywhatchamacallit on the entire piece. Then added the rope.

just tried to make a album of my gifts, tried down loading from computer the first one, after saying downloading for A LONG TIME, the little box area in the left corner went white, and just shut down my down load,,, am having similar trouble at HF, don't know if I have a sucky computer or what, but it always comes up invalid file, my son says the pic is too big, but have tried several ways to make them smaller, but still does it, am very frustrated at this point, been trying to get pics on both sites for weeks now,..........I know I am a computer dummy, but my son isn't and he couldn't get them on either, have tried photobucket, flikr. kodak easy share, pisca, to name a few, all with the same results,,,, sorry, I do love my ornaments!
