Lookin' good, Blinks! You are gonna corner the market on Santa! :D

While you're at it, you may want to think about a 2nd type that has no mustache/beard, so punching or gluing cover would create a natural effect for those who want the actual hair. That way, you hit 2X the market. :)

Hi Sickie, I plan to smooth the area where his bread and Mustashe is. I only put it on there while I was sculpting him to give him The look I wanted. He will not have a bread and mousetashe when it is time to mold him, I 'm going to use a real Santa wig and and bread set I all ready have it ordered.

Blinky
12-03-2007, 08:52 AM
Sorry, Sickie I dont have A can of coke to put next to it.
Its a full head I sculpted it on a syro foam head from Sally's Beauty supply company. Human Size.
And when I go to sell the the head they will come on a foam head too.Already mounted and with ears. The ears are in another mold and added on later after I have the head mounted.
He even looks good with glasses. and I was thinking of adding a corn cob pipe.
If Interested in ordering him : You can pick the eye color you want from Green ,Blue,Brown with Hair , or do it yourself mounting of the hair. I ordered the wig and Beard set from http://www.santaplanet.com/asp/iteminfo.asp?I=PM6574584&R=&H=
Member's here will get a discounted price and you can even order Hands that will be flesh tone.( I don't know if I will be able to cast this mold in time for this year tho. I will try my best to get it done in time )
I am waiting on the hair before I cast the mold so If I have to enlarge or change something I can..

I Thank Everyone for their kind Feed back On him. Iam Glad Santa is a Big Hit..

I think Santa looks very nice, Blinks. You may want to consider holding back on doing others yet, so you don't make a bunch of them and lose money by not enough sales to the general masses. Not trying to sound like a downer, but I've been in very similer situations of selling created items and lost my shirt by expecting a higher return than what I got first time out. :/

Of course, if you already have the raw materials and are not concerned about a short-term return, go for it! :D

Thanks Ice Princess Merry Christmas to you and yours,

I went to Lowe's today and bought the plywood and The 2" pvc Pipe and the Connectors I need for making his frame. Oh and more duct tape.So give me a couple of days and I will start to post pics of the process for those that don't know how to make this type of body for their porch displays..

Sickie I not worried , but Thanks for the advice That does make sense..xoxoxo

Blinky
12-05-2007, 04:05 AM
Well, while I 'm waiting for Santa's Beard to show up I have started to make him stand..

Items you will need:

2' x 2' Plywood Screws and Screwdriver Drill and Bits Saw to cut Pipe

2" Pipe and Connectors= 2-2" 90%,4- 2" 45%, 1- 2" T connector,1- 2" 4 way, 2-2" Shower Drains 10 1/2 feet of 2" PVC pipe..1-2" end cap.

This Is How Far I have Gotten: Pics with Captions
Leg Pipes were cut to 2'6" or 30" X 2 ;)

I think I will spray the base plywood white so I can put Snow on it.. and I am going to fiberglass over the duct tape on the boots to make them weather proof and spray them gloss black.. I will slided them back off to do this step..As I work I will keep adding more to this Tutorial.. If you are wondering why I did not use a floor flanges , it was because the plastic part was to big and looked ugly..These were earier to hide.:D

Small screws. 1" door knob hole cutter, Paint to paint the pole. Small scraps of plywood to make North Pole sign or directional arrows to point to Toy Shop, Candyland, Reindeer Headquarters, etc.

Hi Everyone, The Beard and Wig came today so I had a dry fit it to him to see if everything was going to be ok with it. I think I should enlarge the mouth a tad . So You will see it better through the beard , Then I can mold him:)

As a Stand for it 1- 6" globe and 1 of those things right under the globe for the globe to sit in, Sorry I don't know what it is called . and 1-can Of Spray paint Cost about $20.00 without the lights and electric cord. For all the hardware. This will be mounted on the base right behind Santa when done.

Oh!! The globe is Plastic

Blinky

Up Date on the North Pole It now look like this:
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/Santa%20forum%20pics/makingasanta087.jpghttp://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/Santa%20forum%20pics/makingasanta086.jpg

I found this Globe at Wal-greens for $5.00 Bucks I like it better..
and I bought a nice piece of Fancy wood to make a Sign .That states North Pole. I Think I will paint it White with Red trim and Black Letters. and maybe some holly on it. as a border around the edge of the wood. And the lights will go around the pole?

Nancj
12-06-2007, 12:29 PM

Can the ornament be internally lit?

Blinky
12-06-2007, 06:12 PM
No The Red One can't be lit up .. But I do Like it Better, so I will have to use a flood light.
and wrap the christmas lights around the pole.. Maybe

Right now I'm hand painting the North Pole Sign and for me that is not a easy job..
I shake to much..

Sickie Ickie
12-06-2007, 06:24 PM
Have you considered a stencil to help ya?

Clarice
12-06-2007, 06:43 PM
Blinky

Is it possible to drill out the center of the globe and place a single clear light in it? That way the decor in the center of the globe would be lit up.

Nancj
12-06-2007, 08:39 PM
are you going to paint the red stripe on the pole? b/c you can also wrap red duct tape around it instead of painting it on. might be easier, less messy, and more durable if its outdoors.(just a thought)

Blinky
12-07-2007, 02:46 AM
The Globe is Plastic and I was thinking of that , been then I heard a chicken singing, lol

No I Was was not going to do the red barber pole thing I wanted to use maybe Tree Fur garland? Or Holly Garland? Mixed with the lights.

I have the North pole sign done just have to get Jack The Ripper to drill me a hole so I can mount it to the pole.
I have been having trouble the last couple of day with my muscle control.
Ps: it will go away don't worry !!

Here is the sign.. I know it looks like it was painted by a Bi-pole-er Reindeer:

Nancj: Thank you, Yes I free hand the North Pole Sign.. The tutorial I did as I worked on the globe.. I'm glad You are happy with it. I try to cover all the bases..
Important note tho: When You go To Test plug it, Make sure the bulb works before you put it all together. Make Double sure you are Not touching any metal.. We want to keep you around another Year or so..;)

This Is A HOW TO of the way I made Santa.
It is Done in Slideshow style with captions:

Part 1http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/th_makingasanta034.jpg (http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/?action=view&current=fb99e828.pbw) Part 2http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/th_makingasanta066.jpg (http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/?action=view&current=13f27377.pbw) Part 3http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/th_makingasanta199.jpg (http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/?action=view&current=1fef14b3.pbw) Part 4http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/th_makingasanta225.jpg (http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l50/Blinky_12/Santa/?action=view&current=105f3a94.pbw)

Today I will mold the head ( Big Grin Here ) I also have decided to add a string of lights to the North Pole, so I will drill and small hole in the base of the 4"x 2" connector and remove the globe to wire it to the electric plug that is in the globe.. So I have only one cord to hide.
Also, I have to buy a flood light Bulb so I can light him up.

Blinky
12-11-2007, 11:15 AM

How much do you usually charge for a custom order Blinks?

well sickie for you its... j/k I charge just the cost of the head to make it. because I get to keep the mold for more pulls..
is there something you would like? it depends on the head but most the heads on my site are $90.00 that pays for the Dragon Skin the foam head & eyes and the silicone to put together and lights and glasses, hair etc. shipping is extra.
its really a bargin ..:) that cost does n't included the beard on Santa is cost way more.the beard I used for my Santa cost me $20.00 http://www.santaplanet.com/asp/iteminfo.asp?I=PM6574584&R=&H= so if you want just the head and you order the beard it is $90.00 then

Sickie Ickie
