A local TV station selected our display as the winning display in their contest. They featured some pics of it on the news, kind of cool. The prize is $500 worth of LED lights from Home Depot; I'm pretty happy about that. :)

Our display was probably was pretty popular with preteen boys tonight. We'd had some strong winds over the last day or so, not terrible but in the 30 mph range. We have music box dancer that rotates on a pedestal, the dancer itself is a 36" tall doll with a ballerina outfit on. Well, the wind blew her top off, so she was naked from the waist up. surprise: Naturally this occured while I was out shopping with the wife.

You have the only ballerina Christmas stripper in town. LOL Congrats! I know that's a huge help with lights!

Congratulations, Joe! That's quite a few lights you'll have there.

Thanks for the funny story about the ballerina "wardrobe malfunction". :chappy:

Congrats! Not sure I'd have enough room on my house (and landscaping) to fit $500 worth of lights! :D But I'm sure you'll be creative. :)

Would have been even funnier had her top been found around someone else's Santa Claus head or Snowman head! Congrats on the win.

Thanks everyone. I'm expecting a letter from our HOA any day now about my stripper. Maybe New Year's Eve I should tie a champagne glass in her hand and add a stripper's pole. LOL!! In case you're wondering yes, I'm the rebel with the HOA.

Way to go Buckeye! I am not surprised you won, this forum is full of contest winners every year. And your display is breathtakingly beautiful. Most worthy of winning. Congratulations.

BTW, Joe.....

I need to rig up a ballerina for part of my display in the future. I HAVE the giant nutcrackers, and the toy soldiers already and have a roatating tree as well, but I haven't gotten around to the ballerina just yet. Any chance of a few pics so I can see how and what you did to build her? Thanks!:):):)

Apparently after the wind storm you could already see how she was built. The snowmen said she was built quite nicely.

Craig, I'll try to get some porn-free pictures of her. It really is very simple. I started with a BBQ motor and the square rod that came with it. Zip tied her to rod and used a large red plastic bucket for the pedestal. I went through two BBQ motors, they kept building up with moisture and freezing. I think I had it waterproofed fairly well, so it must have been building up moisture. I ended up using a rotating tree stand, however that spins a little too slow for my taste.

I was going to ask about the pole! LOL!!

But yeah, I'd like to see pics (with her top on, of course!) I'm already getting ideas of using my daughter's ballet costume from last year's recital - except hers is one piece so there won't be any wardrobe malfunctions!
