I remembered as a kid my Dad made one of these - it a simple project which turns out really nice.

Supplies:
1 pegboard sheet (size matters on how big a wreath you want - this one was made from 4X4 piece of pegboard and ended up being approximately 3 1/2 feet across with a 2 foot inner hole.)
3-4 fake green boughs - can find at dollar store around Christmas time.
3-4 fake poinsettia flowers - can find at dollar store around Christmas time.
1 large red ribbon - can find at dollar/discount store around Christmas time.
1-2 (don't recall how many) cans of dark green spray paint.
tie-wraps, plastic/wire ties, string - to tie boughs, lights, and such to pegboard.
Lights - I used the small led lights (1 or 2 packs - don't recall).
2 flat steel braces - cut to size of wreath.

I drew out a inner circle and then a outer circle on the pegboard. Used a jig saw to cut the outer/inner circle out.

Spray painted the pegboard green to help hide the brown pegboard color so not as many boughs are needed to hide the brown color.

Once it's dry, add the boughs, poinsettia flowers, and ribbon using the peg holes to tie everything together. Tie lights insuring your plug is where you want it when you hang the wreath.

I added braces to the back of the wreath 3 months later due to it starting to curl while in storage - simple flat steel braces down the length of the sides.

My wreath went over the street address sign on the house so I didn't need anything extra to hang it - you may need something. Also, putting it at the garage helped with running electric from inside the garage to the wreath outside. I did have to tie the bottom of the ribbon out of the way of the house address.

I realy like this, hoghunter. Any suggestion on what I could use to do the cutting with out the jigsaw? Or maybe my cheap self should just go get a 30 dollar one from sears....
Or maybe Santa would help a sister out early!

Mummy deer-est - pegboard isn't that hard to cut even with a hand saw. Jigsaw is just easier. I just checked and can cut it with a pair of snips (I'm sure my hand would be hurting afterwards cutting out a wreath, but it could be done).

That looks fantastic, thehoghunter! Too bad I'm not decorating the outside this year, I'd for sure make one of those wreaths. I love the little penguins too....very cute.

The wreath looks great!! Thanks for the how-to. Now I can gather the parts for it during the after Christmas sales in order to make one for next year.

great Idea! I always wanted a large wreath but could never find one big enough that I liked. your project is very do able. thanks for the great toutorials. It would seem easy enough to store afterwards also if I cut it in half and put hindges on the back to secure it when in use. I have a very small opening to my storage area in the attic, and I need to think about on how to store it aftewards. did you make the penguins also? very cute!!

Just wanted to thank all of you for the compliments - I called my Dad tonight to let him know how something he made maybe 40 years ago was such a big hit. So the compliments will be passed to him - I'm printing this out and sending it to him so he can see it.
