Who's having Christmas Parties during the month of Dec.? Not the Xmas Day party but other gatherings.
I'm planning the Halloween Group Dinner....with all the turkey & ham goin on we decided to do a Mexican Fiesta, offering both red & green pork chiles, smothered burittos, fresh made refried beans, guacamole, salsa, hot cheese dip...still deciding what to make for dessert...but in this house we always have candy.
The open house the 19th will be sweets & hot apple cider, coffee & small juices or kool aid for the kids. Gonna TRY & bake cookies, make brownies & Xmas bacardi rum cakes.
Will do a lot of cooking when my company is here. They are people who use to eat in our Diner, they are coming from Arizona so we will treat them & make all the stuff we use to make in the Diner. She said, "we miss your food so much!"
Looks like Chicken Fried Steak w/Country Gravy, Smoked Pork Chops, Fried Chicken, Roast Pork Loin w/ Dumplings & Sauerkraut & those huge 3/4 lb. hamburgers we use to make on the charcoal grill!
Probably gonna spend Christmas Eve w/ the neighbors & they come by us on New Years Eve, with hubbies reunion on New Years Eve this year probably gonna have them over on New Years Day. Thats when I do the appetizer buffet!! Ethnic foods that I make...crab ragoons, egg rolls, dumplings & the list goes on...good munch food!
So what is everybody else got planned?? Tell us what your cook'in!

Muffy, I seriously think I would be as big as a house if I were a "real-life" friend of yours! And what fun it would be getting there! Yum!

Well, I am planning a cookie swap (or two?!) and an early Christmas gathering the sunday before xmas for my husbands side of the family. There will be about 15 or so of us then, and who knows how many for the neighborhood cookie swap. Thankfully I get the furniture soon. I would love to have more get togethers, but I don't know if the budget can handle it! We'll see - just need a good reason, right?

Clarice...you are welcome anytime you are in the neighborhood!!
Mummy...wish I lived closer to you to attend your cookie swap! Are you by any chance gonna post pictures on Robin's Cookie Swap site? Yup Mummy it does get expensive those get togethers but at our house we love cook'in for people. I think we miss the Diner sometimes cause we loved cook'in & watch'in people enjoy the food. I'm game anytime I can get some folks together & we can cook!

I just googled the site and saw it for the first time - great reference for new games and such. I will try to post to that site after this years party, as well as this one!

No, Muff, I didn't. We just couldn't get things together this year. And I so glad we decided against it. At first it was a lack of energy/money. And then when the eldest little one got sick, the time in the day for anything other than caretaking was slim to none. I have barely gotten all the decor up, let alone the cleaning and prep that a big party like that would have required.
I have decided that since every year someone gets sick, I am going to start doing Christmas much earlier (I normally wait til mid Dec to do much) so I can plan for these things. But, we know how that will probably turn out too!

We have a Round Robin every yr,
Depending on how many couples are in it ,decides how many houses we go to.
we spend about an hour at each house.
WE always have a designated driver too.
We all meet at our house and everyone brings their gift for the person whose named they picked , and they go under the tree for later.
We started at my house because a friend of mine lives too far away to go there and then come back to the next house, so They brought deviled eggs and we started with Mimosa's for the special drink.
house2 we had beef kabobs, cookies if desired special drink was wine spritzers or mixed drink of choice.
House 3 was Flavored Martinis and a variety of shrimp hot and cold.
House 4 was Hot pretzels and brandy slushes
House 5 we had egg rolls and waterchestnut hor deurve with chinese beer
We then ended back at my house.
Everyone gets a stocking that I fill with various items and candy. We also buy a small stocking stuffer for who we picked to.
We then proceed to drink our reg cocktails and just party till we open gifts. Usually about midnite.
After gift opening I then put out the 2 kinds of meatballs I made for this yr (mushroom and marinara), I also made egg nog mini cheesecakes.
After gift opening I served up my special Xmas shot for this yr.
Baileys white chocolate irish cream with a splash of sgt peppermint. I sprinkled powdered candy cane on these then. NUMMY
We toast to our friendship and the fun we have together.
After that it's just party hardy.
I must say it is a great time to spend with friends.

Sounds like fun, and a hangover! But I would love it -- especially the shots with baily!
