The center pole broke over the summer and because of the way it split I can't get it to glue back together. One thing I do have this time that I didn't the first is a table top drill press. One you use a hand held drill in. Bought it at an auction for $4.00. Nothing wrong with it at all. I'll be able to make tighter wholes so the branches wont move around as much. Might even look for a longer drill bit. Make getting the angles I need easier. Wont get the main tree up today. Be another 4 or 5 hour project getting the pole done. Then waiting for the stain to dry.
Been putting the living room together for about 6 hours now. It's starting to look a lot like Sherwood forest.LOL I have enough evergreen garland to do 10 homes. Need more!!!! I can still see the color of the walls LOL

Sickie Ickie, I LOVE your tenacity!!!!! LOL Just started working on the real site. What I'll do is take pics of the new one I'm making. Using the same web tools as the one I posted pics on so it'll look the same. But with 50 times the space and 200 times the data transfer it'll be bigger and better than the small sites I have now. As soon as it's got content I'll flood santasprojects.com with everything I got!
Got the pole ready to be marked and drilled. Went looking for a longer 3/16 drill bit. Was hoping to find one between 6 and 7 inches. Didn't fined any. But I did find one 16 inches long. Haven't bought it yet. Don't know if I'd be able to use something that long with the drill press I have. I need to be able to drill into the pole at a 45 angle. The problem I had in the past was the chuck on the end of the drill would hit the pole at that angle.
On the original pole I screwed and glued wood blocks at the bottom and secured it to a 3x3 ft piece of plywood. I got me one of those "ultimate Tree Stand". It's got 2 rows of screws that hold the trunk in place. If it holds tight I wont have to use the plywood. ( yes, this is another auction buy. think I paid $1.00 for it. I love cheap. Cheap is good!!!)
