Greetings all my fellow Haunters!!....ooppsss wrong board!!lol I mean Elves!!

Well now that Thanksgiving is behind us & black friday is gone its time to get more serious w/ this Xmas decorating. I been doing pretty good, the trees are in their stands, swags up & decorated, almost have the 1st set of boxes I brought into the house emptied. But duty calls so I gotta stop today & head into the candy kitchen. Still got some hefty orders to get out.

Hows everybody doing with getting things up?

Its pretty cold here today in N.C. & last night we decided to finally do the seasonal kickoff lighting the fireplace!! Well you guys know how I am always telling you about senior citizens. Well someone forgot to check the flue & started a fire...hahahhahahahah.....man it would have been great fog if it was halloween!!!!! "Clouds of smoke danced thru the rooms!">>>>>>does that sound festive??!!

The way things have been going....I hope I don't burn the cookies I bake for Santa!!! God knows what he might leave me for Xmas if i do!!lol

Yesterday my son and I went to the tree farm and both of us got trees. I got a mamoth spruce. Hubby had to cut aboit 18-20 inches off to make it fit- it is a very fat tree too- the best kind in my book. But every year I say I am going to get a fir of some kind, and after much searching, the one I like the best is usually a spruce, which is pokey as the dickens to decorate, have spots on my hands and arms for a few days, but when it is done, it is worth it, it is so beautiful to my eyes. (and smells heavenly!) I haven't started decorating it yet (am on here instead for now) but shortly. The rest of the decorations to follow. Half my outdoor lights are up-tomorrow is supposed to be a little warmer- so I will finish them tomorrow. The past month I have had alot of stressful things going on in my life, and have been hard pressed to go gung ho on the Christmas spirit. I am really trying, I ususlly have so much spirit I probably annoy people, but this year sometimes I feel like I am going thru the motions. But getting the tree helped, I love Christmas trees, I am hoping that when it is up, it will "sooth the soul" kind of thing.

I started decorating right after halloween (cause our Thanksgiving is in Oct). I have most of it done, but I still haven't got our main "real" tree or finished the lights outside. Its like 40 below here (but thats okay I've got a heater in the truck and I'm off to the rodeo........) Anyway, its suppose to warm up again and melt the snow this week so I will finish the outside then.

Finally got the tree and the stockings up today. I came down with a nasty cold on Thanksgiving and slept all day Friday. The rest will have to wait til I'm feeling better.

We put out the outdoor decorations yesterday. We haven't gotten a tree yet, but they just started selling them yesterday and we had to get the outdoor stuff out of the way so we could get to the indoor decorations. Indoors we have a good start and are well on the way to getting that done. Tree shopping will probably be tomorrow so we can get started on that too.

Spent 6+ hours putting up the evergreen garland and lights in the living room. Put the fake feather tree together but not decorated yet. Still working on putting the main tree together. Moving things, cleaning things, looking for things, finding things and still looking for more things. I should have it all done be Christmas. LOL

Hahahahha... thats so funny Lyssa-anne.....we always have some kind of rodeo event on tv here at our house. I'll admit the 1st thing I looked for was where you were from!lol Please can you share a little bit more about this tune!

There is always something going on here w/ bull riding. Jerome Davis lives up the road from us & they not only sponser a few Pro Rodeo bull riding events but they have an indoor arena for local bull riders. Plus they have their own stock. Hubby rode there when he got back from the war. Between getting hurt in Vietnam & his hobby bull riding years (20 years of riding) no wonder he can't move very good. He rode in the minor leagues, the IPRA, International Professional Rodeo Assoc.. All his rodeo gear & pictures are up on the wall here at the house, along w/ my saddle & rodeo stuff! We're cowpokes at heart!

Wow! Talk about saddle sore! I knew an aquaintence who was a rodeo clown, savingup to get his own barrel and everything. As I recall, he had no front teeth left.

wow Mistress thats interesting! I grew up with horses and went to alot of shows, not that many rodeos though - but they are fun to watch, there actually is a big one around here somewhere every year, but I haven't made it to see it yet!
The song mentioned actually really doesn't have anything to do with the rodeo, its just a line in the song.

Well thats funny Ickie...you bein a suburbanite of Chicago & know'in a toothless rodeo clown! lol

Angel Eye...I'm try'in to move along too! Gonna get the lights on the big tree tonight. Trying to get stuff done so I can start on the villages! Use to be one village under my tree, but it took over the living room, now I split it into 3 villages. One on the dining room table, one under the tree & one on top of the gun cabinet. I keep telling my family...stop buying xmas houses ...I want a halloween village now!

Yes Lyssa I been to those horse shows too! Previous boyfriend had family that was show'in all the time. Really enjoyed those little horse shows out in the middle of nowhere in Nebraska. Every year they also competed in the State Fair show.

Oh yes & I understand about the Rodeo song now!! HeHeHe! Spookineer there sent me the words!! I was surprised that Chris sang that song & hubby never brought it to my attention. I know he has every album that guy ever made along with some nice 8x10's of him & hubby together.

Thanks Spookineer....hubby is tucked in...tomorrow I'll ask him why he never played that song for me!lol

got my lights up yesterday... we line the eaves with these retro-looking "fake" C9 candy lights with motion effect... and have two ficuses in front that we trim to look like Christmas trees (pointy and triangular) then go up the sides in white lights.

This year we ordered an old fashioned Noel Candle and Santa face like I remember people in my neighborhood having back in the mid 1960s.

Afraid i haven't got any decs up at the mo. Here in England it's considered some serious bad luck to put any decs up any sooner than 12 days before christmas. But sucks to them i say, lol, joke. We ususally put ours up in the first week of December, only because i force my family too, either that, or they get extrememly annoyed with my nagging. lol. So only another week and a half to go until they can goup, yeehaa.
