Don't really have the pictures for this, but it was a quick idea for last year (the ONLY new thing I did). The great thing about this is 2 minutes
to put it up each year once it's done.

Parts: Spare string of lights (long enough to go around your frame)
PVC pipe and connectors (two tee, 4 90 degree elbows)
RED Duct tape

Cut your pvc pipe to correct lenghts for top/bottom of window (make one more for the middle of the window for strength)
and then for the sides (four pieces).

Something like that...

Put one side (top or bottom) together along with one side piece. Start wrapping the duct tape around the pipe, while
putting the lights on the back side of the frame.
Takes some patience ... and maybe a third hand!

Here is what it may look like (hopefully your's will come out more even than mine!)...

During the day time you see the frame (and the lights if they are on)...dusk both the lights and the frame, night time, just the lights (unless you spot the window). I only have the one window...if you have a bunch of windows, this will make it easier to do them all quickly. I made this so it fits into the frame of the window tight so I don't have to do any kind of tie-down. If you windows are different, you could easily add some type of tie-down to this.

Question...after christmas does it come apart for easy storage? Looks very pretty.

Thanks Theedwin!

Just Whisper - no, it doesn't come apart the way I made it (I would think you could stop before the connections and stop - then start new with the duct tape...then maybe you could take it apart).

My storage solution was some garage hangers called "Add a hook" (from thingsyouneverknew.com - but they don't have them anymore). Anyway, the hook goes on the track for the garage door - gives you maybe 2 feet between the door and the bottom of the hook (maybe less). Anyway, I got two pairs of them and connected them across using steel electrical conduit, giving me a platform that I could store larger things that didn't weigh too much. It's where I store my prison walls for my Halloween skeletons. I doubt this would work on a two car garage - unless the pole going across was stronger then the one I used.

Found the hooks - here is a link - I bent the hook part to a 90 degree and then slid the metal electrical conduit over it and I think I also drilled through both and bolt/nut made it stronger. Also, I drilled through the garage door track and used a counter-sink screw/nut to hold it in place.

Awesome idea! Perhaps to allow for storage, don't wrap the lights with the duct tape. After wrapping the tape, use zip ties to attach the light string. Then just cut the zip ties when it's time to break down everything.

I was thinking just use a separate piece of tape for each piece of pvc, like hog said. Then you should be able to take them apart even with the lights attached, if you don't attach them too tightly. Leave just a little slack. then dismantle and fold up.
