I woke up this morning & opened my window which is right above my pillow!! AAHhh the cold air that came thru that window & chilled my nose was wonderful!! FINALLY the weather out here in N.C. is cooling off. After years of living in Chicago, then moving to Colorado for many, many years & then western Nebraska....it takes a little getting use to here in N.C. where the heat of the sultry summers just never seems to want to go bye bye!!lol

That cold air just reminded me of SNOW & that led to a feeling of just wanting to SHOP for Xmas stuff!! So today I went to all kinds of stores & bought all kinds of things to decorate my house! Just what I needed >>>more stuff....altho the stores do make it hard with having so many NEW things each season....many of you know we all experience this with our Halloween decorations.....every year there is new stuff...who could live up to the statement>>>"I'm not going to buy anything else!" hahahhahahah>>>>>Definately not those of us that share these delirious decorating habits!

I am getting better tho.......today I went with list in hand to purchase things that would complete something else I have. Found more pcs. for my little village, bought a great serving tray w/ tea pot, & accessories & a matching reindeer from Cracker Barrel, got some great Xmas serving dishes, I actually went looking for a gold wreath & looked at several but am sleeping on it before I decide which one to get. Bought little trinkets for my tree & some tassles & cords to fix some real good buys I got last week at the Goodwill Store. (I bought a bunch of Halloween stuff at the Goodwill store too!)

And so I had a jolly good time today and it seemed like my Xmas season is in full swing! And that "Is a Good Thing" because tonight I am finally getting the last of the Halloween stuff down & have some of the Xmas boxes in the house!

I got a couple of ornaments. I also got some lights, which are going to my son. It is his first Christmas out of the house. I haven't done much else yet.

I went to a yard sale this morning. My neighbors love to decorate and throw lots of fabulous parties, so they were getting rid of some of their extra stuff. I bought a couple dozen plastic candy canes (nice quality, not the cheap ones), 10 boxes of icicles, two garlands of red-and-white jingle bells, silvery glittered branches, red tinsel garland, a 24-inch wooden snowman, walkway lights (snowflakes on stakes), 3 bunny light window decorations, and a skeleton faux torch. They would only take $10 for the lot and told me I can borrow anything I need that they aren't using this year (a quarter of their garage is filled with boxes of decorations.) But they did warn me that they are really going to try to win the Decorate Decatur award away from me this year, so I've got to top last year's effort. I love my street!

Wow that sounds like quite a haul you got there NJ !

We have started looking around at the outdoor decorations available this year, seems like every store is doing the wire reindeer and my wife is not a fan of those at all. We are looking for something to go either side of the garage, and so far the likely candidate is the spiral trees. Have a couple of other stores to check out before we decide, but everywhere seems to be doing the same stuff. Reminds me of halloween there :(

I saw a light tree yesterday, and was thinking I could do one out of pvc and light strings. I'll try to develop the idea further.

I agree Secret Santa -- same same same. I guess if you want something different, you have to make it. Problem is finding the time and money. Both of which I do not have enough. :(

Usually buy one or two figural ornaments a year. Looked at all the normal places and couldn't find anything I wanted. I have a good amount of shapes and colors so anything I get can't be overly decorated. My biggest beef is with the Santas. I want Santa to look like Santa. Doesn't matter what color of coat he wears. Mauve, gold, white or even any pastel color would be traditional and OK with me. And I have plenty of them. But covered in flowers and frilly patterns? Guess I don't like Santa depicted as an old fat drag queen. LOL Still looking............

I'll prob wait for after Christmas sales to buy most stuff. Nothing beats 75%-90% off. :)

My Mom bought me the Hallmark Nightmare Before Christmas ornament this year. Apparently she and my Dad couldn't find it, so they had to enlist the assistance of a worker who, upon finding it shouted "OH MY THAT'S SCARY". My parents said they laughed and replied "Yup that's our son" :)
