Which is your preference?
And why?
...and if I didn't list your choice of lighting, tell us what it is!!

I like the LED's - but that's due to all of my power to my front yard riding on one circuit in my house, along with all of my living room and dining room (I'd like to beat on the electrician who put the wiring of my house together)...

The LED's keep me from blowing a fuse...and still allow a lot of lighting...

Who likes what, and why?

I like LED. I noticed that there is A LOT more available this year too.

Incandescents - mostly because that's what I have, but I do love the big C-9 bulbs along the roof. That's how we decorated our house when I was a kid and I'm all about nostalgia at Christmas.

I'm with NJWilk. We've always decorated with the C9s outside, it just reminds me of traditional outside lighting. But the LEDs are creeping their way into my indoor decor, eventually they will probably make their way outside. At least with the LEDs I wouldn't have to worry about how many will get broken in the putting up and taking down process. We usually lose about half a dozen C9 bulbs every year.

I recall those C9 bulbs too from Christmas' past...

But I like to be able to wrap garland and LED lights together as well..and there is no heat with the LED's...

Eh - my biggest thing is my fusebox not blowing...

I use Leds on the bushes and house and C9's around the driveway & sidewalks.

We have it set up w/ C9's for Halloween so we leave the stakes on the ground, take out the purple & orange lights and replace with the xmas mix.

On my big tree I use those big old snowball lights that ace hardware has sold forever.

Well I found C9 size LEDs so I broke down and bought them. Big Lots has them for $9.00. I'll give them a try this year and see how I like them.

I like the ideas of LEDs because they seem to last forever, but they are more expensive. :(

We just bought our LED's today. It's our first time using them. I hope they are nice and bright.

I have mostly incadecents but we are adding LEDs to the mix this year, and plan on eventually converting to only have the LEDs. I love them, love the energy savings for not only our wallet but the environment, the colors are beautiful! If I had lots of money I would simply replace all my incadecents with LEDs right now, but it will take time.

I have incandecents, mini's, c-9's and c-7's. The c-9's were my dad's, they were on my house growing up(and that was a LONG time ago. ) I lke the led's but they are too expensive this year. I hope I can find some clearance after
Christmas.

That's the way to go. I just bought about $400 worth of Hallow's Eve props for $40 because of 90% off at K-mart.

Christmas will be the same way, I'm sure.

I thought I'd live in the doghouse when my wife found out, but she just shrugged her shoulders and told me she wasn't going to ask why. Yay!

That's the first time she ever did that Nancj. Hopefully it'll be a trend. :)

I am starting to like LED. Sometimes they don't look as bright, but I got a few from animated lighting that were awesome. I think once they get LEDs going right, they will be awesome. They draw less power and they are starting to look cool with all these neat colors.

I just put the white LED lights on my tree. It really looks great like tiny little stars. I'll will probably get the colored ones next year.

Got the c9 LEDs put up yesterday. I'm not thrilled, they're not very bright.

I've switched over to nearly all LED this year. Less power, longer lasting, and they seem to be getting brighter than the first sets I bought a few years back. I have some C9 from Phillips that are quite bright. Think I picked them up from Target.

We have used all incadescents in the past, but havethe same problem as you with our electricity. Thanks for the tip with the LEDs. I never really thought about it before, but that is my solution also. Now off to the store!:D

We're thinking of switching over to LED. Can they dim like normal lights?

Not like an incandescent bulb. There can sometimes be a lower intensity to them in a very limited voltage range. Mostly they are on or off. If you want lights to fade then incandescent is the best choice.

I don't have problems with fuses but, I use the incandescents because it is what I have. Not really a preference per se.

I have waaaay too many incandescent bulbs to switch right now.

I like the LED lights, but they are still too expensive to just change up.
One thing I would worry about is that the LED lights I have are VERY directional, and too many of them might light up my neighbor's house.

Switched to LED last year on whatever I could (santa on a motorcycle still has normal bulbs). I was worried about brightness but it wasn't an issue.

To see the normal picture instead of small one here, go to night lights normal size (http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc162/hunters-moon/Christmas/Christmas-past/100_4847.jpg)
Of course, I never cared about blinking lights on the house so the always on LEDs don't bother me. I'm sure they will improve as the years go by. I gave all my filament bulbs strings to my son.

Did you ever warm to these, Clarice? I have incandescent C9s which will need replacing next year, and are almost impossible to find even now.

Actually my C9s are GE "Merry Motion" which were these things that looked like mini lights, but had a C9 sized bulb "sleeve" that slipped over them to give the appearance of C9s. There are no more to be found and never found replacement sleeves anywhere.

I insist on C9s for the eaves - and I love the patterns of these, and also am concerned that the LED ones will look kinda phony. I like the nice pretty candy color of mine.

I prefer the look of incandescents, but I would like to get some LEDs for the outside. I know I should switch to LEDs since they save so much energy, but I just can't bring myself to do it for indoor decorations.
