I'll start this one off. It was when my son(Chris) was 5 or 6 yrs. old he came home crying because some kids at school told him that Santa wasn't real. It broke my heart to see him like this. So I told him Santa was real and I would prove it him. This happen about a week before Christmas and not a clue how to pull this stunt off. Than I saw the animated show with the Calif. raisins. Light bulb went on. I set up the video camera with my son's help to capture Santa on tape. After Chris went to bed I started to place his presents around the tree. But as I put a package by the tree I would use the stop action feature on the camera for each present I put at the tree. The end result was a convincing film of the magic of Christmas. Chris never really got see Santa he just saw his gifts appear out of thin air. He did ask why he couldn't see Santa Claus. I told him Santa was fast to film since he makes his round the world trip in one night. I got a special gift that year from son. The look in his eyes made it all worth while. I was kind of like the Grinch my heart grew 2 sizes bigger as the magic of Christmas came into your home that year.:)

what a swesome story!! I have one about my niece. When she was about 5 or 6 she decided she was to "big" to believe in sants. My sister in law said, well, ok but are you sure? Oh yeah, she was sure. But she was talked into going to see Santa, because he little brother still believed, and would she do it for him. While visting Santahe asked her if she had been good , she said yes, he then looked her in the eye, and said "what about the socks you left on the floor" Well, her eyes got big as saucers, and she didn't know what to say, BECAUSE, that morning she HAD left socks on the floor in the bath room, and got in trouble for it. The best part? Her folks never said anything to "Santa"- he came up with that himself. Needless to say, made a believer out of her for a few more years!!

I remeber when I was about 6, getting up Christmas morning (of coarse about 6), I rushed to the Christmas tree to see what Santa had brought. When I got there,,,, Oh my God,,,,,my jaw dropped and ran to my room to wake up my little brother. WHen he got there he had the same reaction.
You see, when we were kids, our folks didn't have alot (we wern't dirt poor, but they strugled) but that one year, they went all out......
The entire room was filled wall to wall with all the best toys and presents. Alot of stuff was open and running, like the train under the tree that wasn't there the night before, electirc cars, blinking lights, games, bycycles,,, and on and on. To top it off (and you have to remember we are in Alabama) it also snowed.
I know that isn't what Christmas is about, but for us kids, it was incredable.

Awesome stories, everyone.

Every Christmas brings a lot of memories. Every year on Christmas Eve we go on a ride around town look at Christmas displays. Our town goes all out and decorates are park with TONS of lights and decorations, so we always drive through there too.

Last year was one of the most memorable Christmas's. Our entire family went up to Ashland, Wisconsin to my aunt/uncle's house and had Christmas together. It was a lot of fun, and always brings back a lot of great memories.

Ok, I just went to the mall on my lunch break. In the short amount of time I was there, I found myself getting into the Christmas music playing, all of the decorations, and the smells coming out of the candle shops, but of coarse before long, I was cut off twice, yelled at once, flipped off once and wittnessed a fight right in the middle of the mall.
This somehow reminded me of another fond memory. When I was young, we lived in a town of around 250,000 (not a big city, but not a small town either) every Thanksgiving and Christmas we had the same schedule. We would wake up at home, do the family/present thing there, then walk a few blocks to Grandmas house, do presents and dinner there, then walk back home and drive to the other grandmothers to do the same thing. It always sticks out in my mind how few people went out on those days. Staying home or going to a relatives house to spend the day with loved ones was the way it was sopposed to be. The few strangers you did see would greet you with a smile and a boistrious "Merry Christmas". I miss those those days. I hope to someday move my family to small town that still appriciates that type of atmosphere.

That's great, child. I'm a curious type and it would drive me crazy not knowing what my neighbor may have said. :)

Like most parents, mine would stay up late on Christmas Eve getting presents out of their hiding places, assembling toys, wrapping into the wee hours. Then they would lock the door to the gameroom and fall into bed for a couple of hours. One Christmas - I was 11 or 12 - my sister and I picked the lock and sneaked down the stairs around 6 AM. We played with the unwrapped toys and carefully tore some of the wrapping on the boxes. Then we put everything back, climbed the stairs, locked the door and ran giggling down the hall to wake my parents. They never knew until we let it slip 20 years later.

My mom was master of hiding the gifts after one year when she found me in her room shaking every box. She was so mad! I never found a gift after that!

Actually before I got the gifts wrapped, I was the master of hiding the gifts. I used a old freezer not being used, with stuff on top(boxes etc) so they wouldn't think to look. When we got rid of the freezer, I used all the many coolers that hubby has around stacked in the basement( for some reason we always had a bunch of coolers) My kids said they never found them, and they tried. One year I had some bigger items, I put them in the trunk of a classic car hubby has, and he kept the keys. Knowing how sneaky I was, I out-snuck my kids!
