Anyone have any ideas for a Christmas Mario display theme?

Is this old school mario, or new school mario? I have no idea about the new one.

I don't think I have ever played that game. Not into video games at all here! I am really good at luring the ghosts to kill my pac-man tho!!!

How about Christmas wrapped boxes with a large spinning coins above them?
A tube with a Mario or his buddy popping their head up and down out of it?
The turtle duck things could be bringing presents?
Maybe you could go with some sort of "Mario and crew visits a nativity scene" somehow.

Mario and his brothers as the Wise Men....

Fred,

I was thinking more along the lines of the turtle duck things bringing the frankincense, myrrh and gold! LOL

Helping Santa is a great idea!

good ideas! I especially like the spinning coins and turtles with gifts! Luigi poking his head up from a pipe is very doable also!

I hate to mix fantasy with what I believe is reality (nativity), but helping Santa is something I'd not thought about. :)

more! more!

Definitely need pipes!
Mario and Luigi are great for christmas with their red and green shirts!

What if one of them were doing that classic jump (with one fist up, the other down) up towards one of the "?" blocks...with a bow on it? You could make a row of the circle flowers (with the eyes...dressed in red and green) dancing to xmas music? make the stars (with eyes) out of a strand of lights to flash on and off. Have one of those blocky castles with the flag popping out (a flag that reads Merry Christmas)?? And wasn't there some kind of power-up with mario jumping around in a boot -- that reminds me of a stocking somehow.

Now I do remember playing (and losing) this game!

Seems like Mummy is the Mario expert! LOL

I forgot about the castles, I think Donkey Kong was in my head somewhere with the princess and the castle, if DK ever had a castle...... Q-Bert? LOL

Thanks. I'm doing it mainly for my 4 yr old son. He'll be 5 by this Christmas, and probably won't remember anything of it in the future. LOL

Then take lots of pictures and video and "REMIND" him when he is 13-18 and says you "never do anything for him"... LOL

Well, I did play tetris and Mario until my hands were numb a few decades ago. Surprised so much came back to me!

senility runs early in my family. My husband may be all gray by his late 30's, and I'll have swiss cheese for a brain. So, not senile yet...but getting there!

OMG Mario AND Christmas? Now THIS is my area of expertise!

Well first of you, you should decide what characters you want to use, because over the years Nintendo has released and created many characters for the Mario family. I would suggest the following....

Good: Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Yoshi (and maybe DK if you want! He's definitely part of their franchise...)

Bad: Bowser, Kammy Koopa, Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha plant.

You could also maybe throw in a smattering of these bad boys: Bullet bill, chain chomp, dry bones, boo, thwomp, bob-omb... all those great little characters!

As for some props? You'll definitely need a pipe or two, some coin blocks, some coins, a 1-up mushroom perhaps... if you're going new age mario, use either a shine sprite from SMS or a star from SM64.

As for the scene? I think it would be cute to have everyone trying to decorate a tree or something. You could have Bowser tangled up in garland and tinsel. Yoshi could be trying to eat the decorations on the tree, mistaking them for fruit. You could have some shy guys holding up Mario as he tries to put a star on top of the tree. You could have boo(s) trying to scare people from underneath the tree. Toad could be stuck in a stocking or run around like mad... because that's usually all he's doing. Kammy Koopa could be either trying to help Bowser untangle himself, or she could be monitoring putting the star on the tree, OR you could get really creative and have her spells work as decorations: i.e. put a couple of her spells (you know, those like four colored blocks she shoots out of her want) on the tree, and have her displayed in "mid spell." Luigi could be wrapping presents or something. And you COULD have Waluigi and Wario coming up through the pipe with a bag of presents!

Anyway... if you want more ideas, let me know! I have tons, and I'm a huge Nintendo nerd :) Hope this helps!

Great ideas Wandering Star!

My decor has strayed from this idea due to my son's wondering interests. With your imagination though and "Nintendo Nerd" background- it would almost be a shame if you didn't try something like this yourself! :D

Oh golly, what a bummer! But you're right, perhaps I will take this idea and run with it!!
