Hello All!

I am excited to tell you all that I just purchased a new computer! It is nothing fancy or anything, but it was inexpensive, and since "Uncle Sam" just plopped my refund into my checking account, I thought what the heck. Maybe my "stimulus" at wal-fart will help..... (Not likely)

My last computer was almost 6 years old, and I had to replace a fan on it at one point, but I got the wrong size but made it work anyway..... somehow... None of the CD or DVD things worked on it, and neither did that little "A" drive that takes those square plastic disks that hold like 1 mb of information. The front had come off of it and broken, and the side that hides the guts got lost somewhere. The sound card gave out for the second time, and I was tired of lip reading on You Tube... Honestly, I am surprised it worked as long as it did! (It still works, but I don't know what I am going to do with it.)

Now I have to still plug the old one in and run it so that I can get all of my old "Favorites" and other stuff off it. That's going to be fun! (dreading it). I did save all of my old pictures onto some thumb drives, so at least I planned ahead.

Edwin - Happy new computer owner!

Totally cool dude!!! Keep the power supply and fan for props. From what I understand you can run more than one windshield wiper motor from a single computer power supply.

yep, and if you open up the new computer and attach the old harddrive to the 2nd outlit on the drive ribbon, you can use it as a slave and it'll make retreiving old files or moving them to your new computer a breeze! Just read the little directions on the back of the old hard drive to see where to put the jumper pin, before plugging it in. That's all there is to it!

Interesting Sickie Ickie. Wonder if that's all I'd have to do to swap info from my old box to the Mac?

Should give it a try, P. You can't mess anything up that way. I know you had some probs with your old one, so after hooking it up and it reading a 2nd hard drive, you may want to run your virus checker on it first before switching over files.

The one your referring to is gracing a layer of a land fill somewhere. Although there may still be small pieces of it berried in the dirt outside my back door. LOL

So hows the new box going Theedwin?

It's going good Putrid,

I think I will try what Sickie said, it would be alot easier that way. I haven't had time to tinker with the old one since I got the new one. Maybe in a week or so... Need to get ready for work!

Congratulations on your new computer! And thanks for the laugh; for some reason, the above description brought images of the Flintstone's car to mind. That, or 'percussive maintenance' (Needed a laugh today, too. Thanks again!:green:). I wish I could give you some transfer tips in return, but my computers are usually so bloated when I'm done with them that it's hopeless. I just try to keep all my back-up on my external drive, and plug it into the new computer when (once in a blue moon) I get one.
Best wishes to you; enjoy your new machine!
